His initial involvement with organized table tennis started in freshman year in college at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1991. He became president of RPI TTC in 1992 and continued to host annual RPI Open in Troy, NY. He networked with local colleges and started the first collegiate league with 5-6 schools in the Northeast. The collegiate league has reached national level.
